MEMBER SERVICES

The Professional Association of Canadian Christian Counsellors exists to promote and encourage membership in an organization of Christian helping professions.  The mandate of PACCC is to three fold:  to offer members professional accountability within the organization and to the public at large, to provide a wide range of resources, discussion forums, and annual conferences at both the provincial and national levels, and to promote personal and professional networking opportunities.

PACCC is a dynamic and emergent organization, and consists of close to 210 fellow members from across Canada, including clinicians, counsellors, researchers, educators, consultants, pastors and students.  PACCC is committed to listening to the needs, concerns and ideas of its members, and pays attention to what members are seeking in registering with a professional association.

One specific benefit of membership is that of professional liability insurance.  PACCC members are offered significantly reduced professional liability insurance premiums through Encon Insurance . This option is also available to student members.  See “ Insurance ” for more details.

PACCC is committed to the promotion of excellence in Christian counselling, offering its members a variety of resources and professional opportunities.  PACCC supports members in the workplace and in their ongoing career development in the following ways:

Ethical assistance

PACCC has developed a Code of Ethics, which safeguards both the interests of clients and the integrity of the counselling profession. Members are required to abide by the Code of Ethics. The ethical standards are intended to guide Christian counsellors in their professional conduct, and to provide direction in the decision-making process and resolution of potential or real ethical dilemmas.

PACCC members can access the National Office for consultation and clarification of ethical situations.  Refer to the Code of Ethics section for further information.

Counselling Referral Service

PACCC provides a telephone and email referral service to the general public and mental health professionals who are seeking qualified Christian counsellors in private practice.

Referrals are drawn from PACCC's national register, which currently includes more than 210 professional Christian counsellors across Canada .

A benefit to PACCC members of listing with the referral network is the opportunity to build a clientele base.

Continuing Education

PACCC's Continuing Education program aims to promote professional growth, competency and skill development to improve the quality of counselling services that members provide. PACCC requires that members accumulate the specified number of continuing education units on a yearly basis. These can be gained through a wide variety of educational experiences, including courses, seminars and workshops. Continuing education opportunities are listed on the PACCC website.

Student Assistance

Students are offered many benefits of PACCC membership at a significantly reduced rate. PACCC encourages all students to make use of the resources available to them, including professional support, discussion forums, and opportunities for collegial networking at PACCC provincial and national functions.

Employment Opportunities

"Employment Opportunities" i s a listing containing national and international employment and business opportunities for Christian counsellors.  There is no cost to listing on the PACCC Website.

PACCC believes that each member is an integral part of the Association and that the benefits are shared and mutual. Members receive excellent professional support and services from PACCC , while the Association benefits from the God-given wisdom in counselling, professional education and skills, and feedback of the members.

Membership with PACCC symbolizes high professional, moral, and ethical standards. By becoming a member of the  Professional Association of Canadian Christian Counsellors, you will become part of this country's leading advocacy group for Christian counsellors.

Presidential Message
Message from the President...Chris Papastamos

Greetings,

Firstly let me say that I am greatful and it has been my pleasure to belong to the Professional Association of Canadian Christian Counsellors. Being part of this association has afforded me the opportunity to be part of a field that I completely enjoy working in, while maintaining and integrating distinct values and beliefs I may otherwise not be able to do so in other associations. As a certified member I have also enjoyed, appreciated, and valued the networking and collaboration that takes place with like minded clinicians. I also appreciate the work that PACCC has done in the past to promote its members, seeking ways to have it's members recognized as highly trained, professional clinicians within the mental health community. I am also thankful that PACCC also seeks to achieve and maintain the highest possible level of integrity, proficiency, and professionalism for its members. In light of this I am looking forward to assisting in any possible way I can within the role as President. Read more...
