The Counselling Therapists Act came into effect on Tuesday, October 11, 2011.

The Counselling Therapists Act provides title protection, not practice protection, and protects the titles:
  1. Registered Counselling Therapist,
  2. Counselling Therapist,
  3. Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate
  4. and any derivations or abbreviations of those titles.
